From Pictures to Sentences
- What is one group? How many in each group?
- How many groups?
- Write $\text{groups} \times \text{size}$ (or size × groups) and solve.
Example: 5 people × 30 yuan → $5 \times 30 = 150$ yuan.
Match Questions to Equations
Same picture can ask different questions (cost of 2 boxes vs number of cartons in 2 boxes). Match each question to the correct sentence.
Applications
- Distance: 2 laps × 50 m.
- Remainder seating: total − (6 coaches × 35).
- Compare: $6 \times 8 - 4 \times 8$ postcards.
